- To work towards an enabling environment for creative Christian scholarship in Africa, and so to help reverse the current brain-drain of African expertise from African churches and institutions.
- To make a distinctive contribution and input into the postgraduate training of African theological scholars, by providing guidance and supervision in fields of research and by offering unique study and research programmes in the fields of African Christianity and Bible Translation and Interpretation (BTI)
